NFI Group subsidiary New Flyer of America secured a contract from Houston’s Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO). The order includes 100 Xcelsior 40-foot compressed natural gas (CNG) buses. The contract carries a value of approximately $93 million.
Federal Transit Administration funding supports the purchase. These vehicles will replace buses reaching the end of their service life to meet fleet modernization goals.
The agreement extends a partnership between the two organizations lasting over 30 years. NFI has supplied various transit vehicles to the Houston region throughout this period.
