Google has launched its Universal Cart in the United States, bringing one persistent shopping cart to its Search and Gemini platforms. Users can add products from different online retailers directly from search results, reducing the need to switch between browser tabs or save screenshots.
Built on Google Wallet, the cart can track prices, alert users when items are back in stock, find promo codes and suggest payment options based on credit card perks. The feature is designed to keep shoppers within Google’s ecosystem and puts the company in more direct competition with Amazon by centralizing the early stages of online shopping.
