Deepwater Asset Management’s Gene Munster says Meta’s new personal AI agent, Muse, poses a greater long-term threat to Alphabet’s Google Search business than chatbots such as ChatGPT. Muse can perform multi-step tasks and transact on users’ behalf, including booking travel and purchasing goods.
Munster argues that ChatGPT mainly answers informational queries that Google has not heavily monetized. Personal AI agents could instead handle commercial transactions central to Google’s search advertising business, potentially bypassing its ecosystem. Google has integrated similar task-oriented features into its Gemini AI.
