SoftBank Group and PayPay are discussing a $1.9 billion investment in Seven & i Holdings. Seven & i Holdings operates as the parent company of the 7-Eleven convenience store chain.

The company delayed the IPO of its North American operations in April 2026. This public offering is now postponed until 2027 or later.

Alimentation Couche-Tard previously pursued a $47 billion acquisition of Seven & i Holdings. The Canadian retail giant canceled that bid in July 2025. SoftBank’s entry creates new strategic implications for Couche-Tard’s global expansion plans.
