Alimentation Couche-Tard has reportedly offered $7.5 billion to $8 billion for rival convenience store operator Cumberland Farms, in a move that could expand its U.S. presence. The Times reported the offer on October 24, 2026.

Cumberland Farms operates more than 3,200 locations across the U.S. and Europe. The potential acquisition would be one of the sector’s largest and would significantly increase Couche-Tard’s scale in the competitive U.S. market.

The reported offer is below the $9 billion valuation Cumberland Farms was targeting for a planned U.S. initial public offering. The company delayed its IPO plans after receiving takeover interest, including from Couche-Tard.

Cumberland Farms has not publicly commented on the offer. Sources cited in The Times report said the company remains committed to a stock market listing, which is now seen as unlikely before 2027.
