XPeng announced on September 29 that it had entered carbon credit trading agreements with Porsche and several other international automakers. The agreements cover markets including the European Union, the United Kingdom and Australia.
XPeng estimates the deals will generate more than 1 billion yuan in revenue. That is approximately $149.2 million.
The agreements create a new income source from the sale of carbon compliance resources, diversifying revenue beyond vehicle sales and technical services. XPeng expects to receive more than 500 million yuan from the deals in 2026 alone.
The deals follow XPeng’s expansion overseas, where its battery-electric vehicle sales have grown significantly.
