Samsung Electronics introduced its CUBE next-generation memory strategy at the Taiwan 2026 exhibition in Taipei. The roadmap targets significant improvements in capacity, bandwidth, and power efficiency for the artificial intelligence sector. This initiative focuses on developing eighth-generation High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM5) and a follow-up solution called zHBM.

Samsung aims to double HBM5 performance compared to the current high-end HBM4E standard. The new architecture also prioritizes enhanced thermal management for high-demand AI applications.

Samsung shares fell 2.31% in early trading amid a broader decline in the South Korean market. Geopolitical tensions, rising oil prices, and potential US Federal Reserve rate hikes pressured regional equities. Analysts noted no direct correlation between the CUBE announcement and the morning's share price movement.
