Samsung Electronics will break ground on a second semiconductor fabrication plant in Taylor, Texas, in November 2026. The new facility, Taylor Fab 2, features a 2.7 million square foot footprint. Construction begins before the first facility at the site is fully operational.

The expansion targets the market for high-performance computing and AI chips. Samsung is positioning the Texas hub as a direct competitor to TSMC’s Arizona facilities. Mass production at the second plant is scheduled to start in 2030.

The facility will focus on meeting the surging demand for 2-nanometer process technology. Securing the site now allows Samsung to lock in early supply chain commitments. This strategy addresses long-term demand despite high US construction costs and production yield issues.
