The UK's National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has rejected routine NHS use of Roche's breast cancer drug Itovebi (inavolisib). The decision covers its use in combination with other treatments for patients with a specific type of advanced or metastatic breast cancer.
NICE cited uncertainties in the clinical trial data, particularly about the drug's effectiveness in patients previously treated with CDK4/6 inhibitors. It also concluded that cost-effectiveness estimates were too high.
Roche's UK breast cancer lead called the decision “devastating” for patients, saying it denies them a vital treatment option.
