Roche and partner Zealand Pharma announced topline results from a Phase 2 trial of petrelintide in patients with Type 2 diabetes. The trial ran for 28 weeks.

Patients recorded mean weight loss of up to 9.2%, a result analysts described as “intriguing.” Petrelintide reduced HbA1c by 0.65%, below reductions of 1.3% to 2.1% reported in competitor trials.

The mixed results raise questions about petrelintide’s prospects. They could position it primarily for weight maintenance rather than as a frontline treatment for patients with diabetes.
