Porsche Automobil Holding SE is calling for the Volkswagen Group to accelerate cost-saving and restructuring measures. The demand follows a reported after-tax loss of €2.2 billion for the first half of 2026. This result marks a sharp decline from the €300 million profit recorded during the same period last year.
Substantial write-downs on core investments drove the holding company's financial loss. Porsche SE recorded a €3 billion write-down on its Volkswagen shares. It also reported a €200 million write-down related to its stake in Porsche AG.
Chairman Hans Dieter Pötsch described Volkswagen as being at a historic crossroads. He warned that delaying difficult decisions could worsen the automaker's position in an increasingly competitive market.
