Lockheed Martin plans to create 6,000 jobs across the U.S. as it expands advanced manufacturing capacity and increases production of critical munitions. The expansion includes 2,000 new jobs in Texas. The company will invest $300 million in its Grand Prairie facility.

The Grand Prairie operation will grow to more than 735,000 square feet and add automated machining technology to accelerate production. It makes components for the PAC-3, THAAD and PrSM missile systems, which are sent to final assembly sites.

The expansion is part of a broader plan to invest up to $9 billion through 2030. The investment will modernize more than 20 U.S. facilities.
