Lockheed Martin is advancing its Extended-Range Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (ER GMLRS) into production after receiving approval from the U.S. Army. The approval followed two successful soldier-led operational tests at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, in September and October.
ER GMLRS is designed to nearly double the standard rocket’s range, reaching 150 kilometers. It is compatible with existing HIMARS and M270 launchers.
Both the unitary and alternative warhead versions completed the operational tests. With Milestone C approval, the program moves from development to manufacturing and operational fielding.
