Developer Moishe Mana sold a 30-acre property in Miami’s Wynwood district to Citadel founder Ken Griffin for $1.1 billion in cash. Disclosed this week, the deal followed three years of negotiations. The Real Deal reported that it represents the largest private investment in U.S. higher education.

The property, at 318 Northwest 23rd Street, is slated to become a Miami satellite campus for Carnegie Mellon University. Griffin’s vision for a tech-focused educational hub convinced Mana to sell the parcel, which he had previously said was not for sale. The campus is expected to begin enrolling students in 2028 and is part of Griffin’s $3 billion gift to the university.

The project is expected to strengthen Miami’s role as a finance and technology hub. Its engineering- and AI-focused campus could shape the city’s commercial real estate landscape and talent pool, while attracting further investment and development to the area.
