Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA) today inaugurated its new greenfield ferro chrome project at Kalinganagar, making it India’s largest producer of value-added ferro chrome.
The plant was brought into operation in 15 months. It raises IMFA’s total installed capacity to 5.34 lakh tonnes per annum.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi led the inauguration ceremony. The facility uses advanced closed furnaces and an off-gas power generation system to improve energy efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint.
The project is expected to create 1,500 direct and indirect jobs.
