GE Aerospace delivered three F404-IN20 engines to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in August. These components support the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas Mk1A program following prolonged supply chain constraints.

The delivery allows HAL to accelerate production of the indigenous fighter jets. Meeting these timelines is critical for HAL to fulfill its commitments to the Indian Air Force (IAF).

The IAF maintains total orders for 180 LCA Mk1A fighters. HAL received the first order for 83 aircraft in February 2021. A second order followed for an additional 97 jets.

The upgraded Mk1A features advanced capabilities including enhanced radar and electronic warfare systems. These deliveries help streamline the production line to meet the large-scale requirements of the Indian armed forces.
