Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) delivered the first three indigenous HTT-40 basic trainer aircraft to the Indian Air Force (IAF) on October 22, 2026. The delivery supports India’s efforts to strengthen domestic military pilot training and reduce reliance on imported aircraft.
Full-scale pilot training on the HTT-40 may take additional time to implement, according to reports. The delivery follows other recent HAL handovers to the IAF, including the Dhruv-NG helicopter and LCA Tejas Trainer jets, highlighting HAL’s role in India’s defence modernisation.
