Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Safran are co-developing the Aravalli engine as of September 7, 2026. This project aims to achieve self-reliance in core helicopter propulsion technologies. The new engine will power the upcoming 13-ton Indian Multi-Role Helicopter (IMRH).
India's Defence Acquisition Council is reviewing a proposal to overhaul 40 Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jets. These aircraft currently serve as the backbone of the Indian Air Force's combat fleet. HAL is expected to act as the primary partner for this major maintenance project.
