GSK plc plans to invest more than $800 million to expand its Upper Merion, Pennsylvania, site into a biopharmaceutical manufacturing and research hub.
The project is expected to create more than 300 jobs within five years. It will retain around 4,500 existing full-time positions in the state.
The investment will fund a commercial-scale biologics manufacturing facility, a research and development pilot plant, and a centralized quality control laboratory. Construction is slated to begin in 2027.
The expansion will strengthen GSK’s production and research capabilities in the region. It complements a previously announced investment in Lancaster County, bringing the company’s total planned investment in Pennsylvania to nearly $1.7 billion.
