The Norwegian Ocean Industries Authority (Havtil) identified four instances of non-compliance and serious deficiencies at Equinor’s Hammerfest LNG facility. The regulator reported shortcomings in governance, risk management, and the working environment.
The inspection followed several incidents of chemical exposure at the plant. Although exposure levels were low, the investigation revealed a culture of silence and a lack of trust in management.
Havtil expects Equinor to address all identified deficiencies. The authority will monitor the company for compliance.
