Portuguese utility EDP has withdrawn from the Grande Lago Hybrid Power Plant project.

The project planned to combine a floating solar park with a wind farm at the Alqueva Dam. EDP cited a lack of sustainable and predictable viability following a detailed internal analysis.

The company originally secured the project through a 2022 public tender. EDP maintains its commitment to the Portuguese renewable energy market despite the exit.

Future strategy focuses on new developments, asset hybridisation, and retrofitting existing infrastructure to support the energy transition.
