BYD plans to grow its European workforce to approximately 40,000 by 2030. Executive Vice President Stella Li announced the target at the Paris Motor Show, highlighting the automaker’s long-term commitment to the region.

The hiring plan is part of a broader effort to localize operations. BYD is close to opening its first European car factory in Szeged, Hungary, where production is expected to begin in the fourth quarter.

The company’s long-term plan includes three European assembly plants and a battery factory. Local production would help BYD tailor vehicles to European tastes and avoid EU import tariffs on Chinese-made vehicles.
