BYD’s $150 million New Energy Vehicle (NEV) assembly plant is being built in Gharo, Sindh. The facility is expected to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2026 and was constructed in under 18 months.
The plant will initially have annual production capacity of approximately 25,000 vehicles, with the potential to scale up to 50,000. Before production begins, BYD will validate equipment, conduct production trials and test quality to meet its global manufacturing standards.
BYD is also discussing the introduction of its next-generation ultra-fast EV charging technology in Pakistan with local partner Mega Motor Company. Powered by the second-generation Blade Battery, the technology could allow compatible EVs to charge from 10% to 70% in five minutes. Any rollout will depend on local readiness and further planning.
