BYD has revealed a substantially redesigned second-generation Seagull electric vehicle, following earlier regulatory filings. The update includes a redesigned exterior and revised cabin hardware.
The Seagull switches from front-wheel drive to a 95 kW rear-wheel-drive system. Its top speed rises to 150 km/h.
The car also replaces its torsion-beam rear suspension with an independent multi-link setup. Moving the drive unit to the rear creates space for a front trunk, an uncommon feature in the small EV segment.
Chinese outlet Autohome first reported the reveal, citing regulatory data from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
