BYD plans to increase its European workforce to approximately 40,000 employees by the end of 2029. An executive announced the plan on October 12 at the Paris Motor Show, underscoring the Chinese automaker’s long-term commitment to the region.
The hiring push supports BYD’s strategy to shift from exporting vehicles to becoming a major local manufacturer in Europe. The company is nearing the opening of its first European vehicle factory in Hungary and is considering sites in France and Spain for additional plants.
BYD aims to expand its dealership network, tailor vehicles to local preferences and reduce the impact of potential EU tariffs on imported vehicles.
