Brookfield and NextEra Energy are partnering to develop a $100 billion AI data center and energy campus. The project will transform a former Department of Energy uranium enrichment site in Paducah, Kentucky.
Brookfield will develop and operate the data center facilities. NextEra Energy will manage the site's power generation. The development is entirely privately funded.
On-site infrastructure includes a dedicated 2-gigawatt natural gas power plant. The facility will also feature 2.6 gigawatts of battery storage. This independent power generation prevents infrastructure costs for local ratepayers.
The project is scheduled for completion by 2032. Construction will create thousands of jobs, followed by hundreds of permanent full-time positions.
