India plans to produce 1,000 Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missiles (QRSAM). The initiative also includes the production of 1,000 Akash-NG missiles. Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) is the central partner and has completed its QRSAM program activities.
The total QRSAM program is valued at nearly ₹30,000 crore. Bharat Dynamics Limited is estimated to receive missile orders worth between ₹11,000 crore and ₹12,000 crore.
The Defence Acquisition Council will grant Acceptance of Necessity in July 2025. Final clearance from the Cabinet Committee on Security is expected by September 2026.
This procurement will strengthen India's layered air defense. The project also supports the growth of the domestic defense manufacturing sector.
