Avolon placed a firm order for 140 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft as part of a larger purchase of 250 new jets. The purchase also includes 110 aircraft from European rival Airbus.
Dublin-based Avolon, the world’s third-largest aircraft lessor, said the order responds to strong demand from airline customers for new, fuel-efficient aircraft to renew and expand their fleets.
The agreement brings Avolon’s total aircraft on order to 749.
