Airbus shares fell more than 1% following reports of a quality flaw in its A321neo fuselage. The defect involves insufficient corrosion protection on structural components in the forward section.
The issue affects approximately 500 aircraft. About 250 of these jets are currently in service with airlines. The remaining 250 units are still in production.
Airbus confirmed the affected planes remain safe to operate. A repair solution is available and does not require major disassembly.
This marks the second fuselage-related quality issue for the A321neo model within the last year. The defect adds pressure to Airbus’s efforts to increase production rates and deliveries.
