Samsung Electronics announced it will acquire Samsung Display’s entire 10.16% stake in Chinese panel manufacturer TCL CSOT. The deal is worth approximately $950 million.

The transfer places the investment directly under Samsung Electronics, whose television and consumer electronics businesses rely heavily on a stable supply of LCD panels. It underscores LCD technology’s strategic importance to Samsung’s high-volume products, even as Samsung Display focuses more on next-generation OLED technology.

Samsung Electronics aims to strengthen its long-term relationship with TCL CSOT. The company expects direct control of the stake to improve its position in future supply and pricing negotiations.
