TotalEnergies and partners SOCAR and XRG have taken the final investment decision (FID) on the full development of the Absheron gas and condensate field in the Caspian Sea, offshore Azerbaijan.
The field holds approximately 140 billion cubic meters of recoverable gas reserves.
The development aims to raise production to 6 billion cubic meters per annum (BCMA), up from the first phase’s capacity. The gas will supply Azerbaijan’s domestic market and be exported to Turkey.
The project is designed to limit emissions. Plans include an electrified onshore processing plant and advanced automation solutions.
