SoftBank Group is reportedly seeking to raise up to $100 billion for a new investment fund focused significantly on artificial intelligence. Founder and CEO Masayoshi Son has held discussions in recent weeks with senior figures in the Gulf, including in the United Arab Emirates, to secure capital for the venture.
The fund would seek to acquire companies and use AI and other advanced technologies to improve their operations. The plan could mark SoftBank’s return to the mega-deal strategy of its first Vision Fund, reflecting Son’s strong conviction in AI’s transformative potential.
