On August 14, 2026, Saab AB announced it is doubling Gripen E/F fighter jet production to 30 aircraft per year. This expansion scales up from the current annual rate of 15 aircraft. The move responds to increased demand from four countries: Ukraine, Colombia, Brazil, and Sweden.

The decision follows a second quarter in 2026 featuring nearly 30% organic sales growth. Saab reported a record-high gross margin and an order backlog of SEK 318 billion.

This production ramp-up is part of a broader industrial expansion. The company is also increasing manufacturing for other defense systems, including the GlobalEye surveillance aircraft.
