A Munich Regional Court has issued an injunction barring SAP from offering its Signavio Process Intelligence software in Germany. The court found that the software infringes a process-mining patent held by competitor Celonis. Patent EP 3 139 274 covers a method for calculating net throughput times in business processes.
The court also ordered SAP to provide detailed accounts of its infringing activities, establishing the company’s liability for damages.
The ruling adds to an escalating legal battle between the two German software companies, with disputes also underway in the United States and before the Unified Patent Court (UPC). SAP entered the process-mining market in 2021 through its acquisition of Signavio.
