Roche Holding AG has entered into a strategic collaboration and licensing agreement with China’s Hansoh Pharmaceutical to develop a portfolio of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) for cancer therapies. The agreement could be worth more than $15 billion, making it one of the year’s largest cross-border collaborations.
Hansoh will receive an upfront payment of $400 million. It will receive another $110 million on the agreement’s first anniversary. Hansoh is also eligible for more than $15 billion in milestone payments, plus royalties.
This is the companies’ second ADC partnership and a significant expansion of their collaboration. It covers two of Hansoh’s preclinical ADC programs and multiple new programs that will use Hansoh’s technology to pursue targets proposed by Roche. Hansoh will lead early development, after which Roche will take over development and commercialization outside Greater China.
