Rheinmetall announced the successful launch of its first satellite, marking a milestone in its partnership with Italian space company Argotec. The satellite was launched on October 1, 2026, aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
Designed for military air-defense surveillance, the satellite will identify ground-based indicators of airborne threats and use artificial intelligence to process the data. The system is intended to feed that information directly into air-defense systems and serve as the foundation for a planned modular satellite constellation.
The launch expands Rheinmetall’s work into the space domain, with the aim of developing satellite-based airspace surveillance and enhancing national security.
On October 2, the Sara Georgi Stiftung, an entity linked to an insider, purchased 250 shares at €954.83 each. Rheinmetall shares were trading near their 52-week low. The stock rose about 2.5% in early trading following the announcements.
