Qualcomm Technologies signed a 10-year agreement to supply BMW Group with computing chips for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and intelligent cockpits. The partnership follows three years of joint development between the two companies.
The collaboration produced the Snapdragon Ride-Pilot system based on Qualcomm’s automotive system-on-chip (SoC). This technology enables hands-free driving on highways and urban roads while meeting New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) standards.
BMW has already integrated the technology into its iX3 model. Qualcomm retains the right to sell the co-developed autonomous driving solution to other vehicle manufacturers.
