PayPal is back in the spotlight after fresh reports that a large, unnamed U.S. technology company is interested in a takeover. The speculation centers on a potential all-stock bid and has drawn attention from traders and investors.

The reports follow the collapse, in the prior month, of takeover talks involving a consortium that included Stripe and Advent International. The consortium had reportedly considered a cash offer of around $68 per share.

PayPal’s board might prefer an all-cash deal, adding uncertainty to the company’s future. Its share price has declined over the longer term despite recent positive momentum.
