Petrobras Secures 22-Year LNG Supply to Reduce Spot-Market Exposure

Petrobras signed a long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) purchase and sale agreement with Cheniere Marketing, a subsidiary of Cheniere Energy. The agreement calls for Petrobras to purchase 0.8 million tons of LNG per year. It runs for 22 years.

The deal aims to reduce Petrobras’s exposure to spot-market volatility. The long-term supply strengthens risk management across its natural gas portfolio and provides greater flexibility and security in meeting contractual obligations. Earlier this month, Petrobras announced a similar long-term LNG agreement with Sempra Infrastructure.
