Novo Nordisk entered a global exclusive license and collaboration agreement with Swedish firm Nanexa. The deal for Nanexa’s PharmaShell drug-delivery technology is valued at up to €1.165 billion. This total value represents approximately $1.3 billion.
The partnership focuses on developing long-acting injectable treatments for obesity, type 2 diabetes, and other cardiometabolic diseases. Novo Nordisk gains rights to use the PharmaShell platform in up to five development programs.
The collaboration aims to create formulations administered monthly or quarterly to replace current weekly injections. Nanexa is eligible for €615 million in upfront, development, and regulatory milestone payments. The remaining deal value is tied to sales milestones and low single-digit royalties.
