Novo Nordisk said a real-world analysis of more than 630,000 adults with type 2 diabetes found that Ozempic (semaglutide) at a 2 mg dose was associated with a 6% lower risk of major adverse cardiovascular events than switching to Eli Lilly’s Mounjaro (tirzepatide).

The study’s findings will be presented at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes annual meeting.

The results could influence physician prescribing and strengthen Novo Nordisk’s position in the diabetes and obesity drug market, potentially bolstering its market share against its primary competitor.
