NVIDIA is reportedly in preliminary discussions to acquire Reflection AI or significantly increase its investment in the startup. Founded by former Google DeepMind researchers, Reflection AI develops machine-learning systems to automate software engineering and was raising funds at a $25 billion valuation.
The talks are at an early stage. Potential deal structures include a full acquisition or an acqui-hire that would bring key talent to NVIDIA and license Reflection AI’s technology, potentially helping avoid extensive antitrust reviews.
The move could strengthen NVIDIA’s position in open-weight AI models and help it compete with rivals. NVIDIA already has a significant partnership with Reflection AI and has invested $800 million in the startup.
