NVIDIA shares rose in Friday trading after Elon Musk announced plans to expand xAI’s AI computing infrastructure.

Musk said xAI’s Colossus 2 supercomputer, which currently uses hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA chips, is set to add 220,000 GB300 GPUs as early as next week.

The facility could add as many as 660,000 new GB300 chips by year-end, potentially doubling its GPU count.

The expansion underscores demand for computing power to train and run advanced AI models. NVIDIA shares also traded higher in premarket and early trading.
