NVIDIA’s share of China’s AI data-center chip market fell to 34% in the first half of 2026, a significant decline from the previous year. U.S. export controls limiting sales of advanced AI chips to China and the growth of local competitors contributed to the drop. Huawei captured 28% of the market.
According to IDC, NVIDIA shipped 678,000 AI data-center chips to China in the first six months of 2026, down 44% year over year. Huawei shipped 572,000 units during the same period.
The figures point to a shift in the competitive landscape and a challenge to NVIDIA’s position in China.
