Novo Nordisk announced positive topline results for its next-generation experimental drug, CagriSema, during its Capital Markets Day. The late-stage REIMAGINE 5 trial evaluated the treatment in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Patients treated with CagriSema experienced an average weight loss of 12.4% over 60 weeks. This outperformed the 9.1% weight loss recorded for those on Eli Lilly's tirzepatide. The drug also achieved a non-inferior reduction in blood sugar levels.

The results represent a significant win in the competitive obesity and diabetes market. Novo Nordisk expects an FDA decision on CagriSema for weight management in the fourth quarter of 2026.
