Nestlé will close its confectionery factory in Diósgyőr, Hungary, by the end of 2024. The facility produces seasonal hollow figures for brands including KitKat and Smarties. This decision follows a decline in demand for these specific products. Nestlé is currently seeking an investor to acquire the plant and continue confectionery production.

Nestlé is also investing SFr520 million ($642.7 million) to build a pet food factory in Mantova, Italy. Operations at this facility will begin in 2029. The plant will produce Purina super-premium single-serve wet food for cats and dogs. This investment targets a high-growth market segment across Europe.
