Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has sued Nestlé and its U.S. subsidiary, Gerber, alleging they sold baby food containing dangerous levels of arsenic and lead. The suit accuses the companies of misleading consumers by marketing the products as safe, rigorously tested and recommended by pediatricians.
The Attorney General’s office says Gerber’s internal testing found heavy metals in its baby food. The lawsuit poses reputational risks for Nestlé and could have financial implications.
Separately, Nestlé India reported a 36% jump in second-quarter profit and flagged concerns about inflation.
