Metlen Energy & Metals PLC and the Karatzis Group of Companies announced the inauguration of Greece’s largest standalone battery energy storage system (BESS). Located in Thessaly, the facility is intended to support renewable energy infrastructure and grid stability.
The project reflects Metlen’s focus on energy transition projects and its expanding presence in energy storage.
On October 12, 2026, Metlen announced a collaboration with Thales Alenia Space to support Greece’s defense space ambitions, drawing on Metlen’s gallium production capabilities.
