Microsoft has launched the Surface Laptop Ultra, a high-performance laptop equipped with NVIDIA’s ARM-based RTX Spark processor. Starting at $2,599, it is designed for AI computing, video processing and gaming, and is positioned to compete with Apple’s MacBook Pro. Configurations offer up to 128GB of unified memory, targeting consumers and enterprise users who need powerful on-device AI performance.
The launch advances Microsoft’s effort to grow its share of the premium laptop market and promote AI-powered PCs that run models locally rather than relying solely on the cloud. The laptop’s Neural Processing Unit (NPU) reflects the broader industry shift toward on-device AI, a central part of Microsoft’s strategy for Windows and its software ecosystem.
