Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella called for stronger safety measures for advanced AI systems, urging companies to install an emergency brake that can pause or shut down models when they behave in unintended ways. In a series of posts on X, he said companies should treat powerful AI models as potential insider threats and cannot outsource responsibility for their actions to AI developers.

Nadella said companies should surround non-deterministic AI with strong, deterministic system designs and human controls. His comments come amid growing industry and public concern about unpredictable behavior in some frontier AI models.

No direct market reaction to the weekend statements was noted. Microsoft shares closed up more than 2% in the previous trading session on Friday.
